Warren Shire has celebrated the achievement of one of its own, with dedicated community contributor, Patricia Irving, being awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2022 Australia Day Honours List for her service to the Warren Shire community.

Mayor of Warren Shire, Councillor Milton Quigley, has congratulated Mrs Irving on this esteemed accolade.

“It was wonderful to see Patricia’s significant community contributions recognised through her inclusion on the Australia Day 2022 Honours List and as a recipient of the Medal of the Order of Australia.

“Patricia has lived in Warren Shire since 1956 and since this time, her efforts have had a major impact on many sectors of our community, particularly in the areas of health, education and as an advocate for rural women through her long-term involvement with the Country Women’s Association.

“On behalf of our grateful community, I offer my congratulations to Patricia, and thank her for all she does for Warren Shire,” Mayor Quigley said.

A trained Mothercraft Nurse, Patricia raised her four children on her Warren Shire property and has always strived to encourage and enhance a sense of community across all of her endeavours.

Mayor Quigley describes Patricia’s contributions to life in Warren as substantial and varied.

“In addition to her involvement with the Country Women’s Association, Patricia has worked as a volunteer at the Warren Shire Visitors Information Centre, was Secretary of the Warren Arts Council, coordinated public speaking contests between local schools, and was the driving force behind initiatives such as the Blood Bank Bus to Dubbo and recycling in the Shire.

“A founding member of the Warren Multi-Purpose Health Service Committee, Patricia helped to establish this service, which has played an integral role in our Shire’s effective COVID-19 response.

“For many years, Patricia and her husband were largely involved with the Warren Show, of which she is now a proud patron. She was also an inaugural committee member of both the Warren Voice Interests and Education of Women (VIEW) Club and the Penguin Club.

“Patricia was previously recognised for her substantial and varied community contributions as the recipient of Warren Shire Council’s 2014 Citizen of the Year, and in 2021, was profiled in Council’s Women of Warren media series,” Mayor Quigley added.
