As a long-serving member of Council's staff, Jill Murray began her career at Warren Shire Council as a typist in 1984, working her way through several finance roles to eventually become our Treasurer.
Let's hear more about Jill Murray.
How long have you been working with Warren Shire Council?
38 years – I commenced on the 9th of January 1984.
What is your favourite part of your job?
I have the privilege of working with some great people.
What does a usual day look like in your role?
Each day is totally different as I frequently “fill in” in other areas due to staff shortages. It does get hectic at times with deadlines, but the days are always busy and fly by!
What is the greatest achievement in your Council career?
I started as a typist at Council back in 1984 and worked my way through each finance position – payroll, debtors, creditors, rates – and I now hold the position of Treasurer.
How would your friends describe you?
Someone who enjoys life.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
Always give 110%.
What three things would you take with you to a deserted island?
Chef, masseur and my husband.
What’s your idea of a perfect day?
Living on the deserted island.
What do you enjoy most about calling Warren Shire home?
Warren Shire is what you make it, and socialising with family and friends is a must. We are lucky to have many new facilities in town and great management by Council, who are looking to the future. I love the “laid back” lifestyle and the country living.
