On Friday, 29th November 2024, Warren Shire Council hosted its annual Councillor and Staff Christmas Party at the Warren Golf Club. The event was a fitting occasion to recognise two previous councillors and seven staff members who have dedicated many years to the Council and the community.

Previous Councillors Acknowledged 

Dr. Milton Quigley – Emeritus Mayor Award

Dr. Milton Quigley was awarded the Emeritus Mayor Award in recognition of 20 years of service as a Councillor and six years as Mayor. His steady leadership and contributions to the region have played a key role in advancing Council projects and initiatives.

“Dr Quigley exemplifies what it means to lead with integrity, purpose and dedication,” said Acting General Manager Stephen Glen. “Balancing his work as a respected dentist and his responsibilities as Mayor and Councillor, he has served as a role model for all of us. His years of service have shaped the direction of Warren Shire and strengthened its future.”

Dr. Quigley served on several Council committees, including the Strategic Planning/Policy Committee and Roads Committee, and represented the Council in regional organisations such as the Orana Joint Organisation.

Kevin Taylor – 25 Years of Service

Councillor Kevin Taylor was acknowledged for 25 years of service to Warren Shire Council. Known for his ability to balance his role as a Councillor with his responsibilities as a successful business owner, Kevin has been an active and effective advocate for the community.

“Kevin’s long service demonstrates his commitment to the community,” said Stephen. “His contributions have been important in ensuring Council decisions align with local needs.”

Councillor Taylor has served on many committees including the Tourism Committee, Water and Sewer Committee and the Airport Committee, to name a few.

Staff Recognised for Long Service

Jill Murray – 40 Years of Service

Jill Murray was recognised for 40 years of service to Warren Shire Council. Since joining in 1984, Jill has worked across multiple roles in the Finance Department and is now Council’s Treasurer. Her experience has supported the Council’s financial management over decades of growth and change.

“Jill has provided consistent and reliable service throughout her career,” said Stephen. “Her work has been integral to maintaining the Council’s financial stability.”

Jill’s long career reflects a strong sense of responsibility and professionalism, as well as her valued contribution to Council operations.

Steven Bolton – 30 Years of Service

Steven Bolton was honoured for 30 years of service as Parks and Gardens Foreman. His work has improved the appearance and functionality of public spaces across the Shire, ensuring parks and gardens are well-maintained and accessible.

“Steven’s efforts are evident in the quality of our public spaces,” said Stephen. “His leadership in this role has improved the amenity of the Shire for residents and visitors alike.”

Rebecca Moors (20 years)

Former Library Officer turned Service NSW/Records Clerk, Rebecca’s meticulous attention to detail ensures the smooth operation of Council records and systems.

Anthony “Skip” Wenzel (20 years)

From slashing grass, operating all aspects of Council’s water and sewerage systems, to hauling road material and equipment, Skip’s dedication to road and infrastructure maintenance has been vital to the Shire’s operations.

Stephen Clarke (17 years)

Known for his hard work and adaptability, Stephen’s journey from casual labourer to water cart operator highlights his commitment to Council’s infrastructure goals.

Cassy Mitchell (10 years)

An exceptional Administration Officer, Cassy’s efficiency has been critical to the Council’s Health and Development Services.

Tamar Foodey (10 years)

Renowned for her meticulous cleaning and dedication, Tamar’s work has ensured that Council facilities remain spotless and welcoming.

 Acting General Manager Stephen Glen, who served as MC for the evening, expressed his appreciation for the dedication of Councillors and staff.

“The service of these individuals has been critical to Warren Shire’s operations and development. Their efforts continue to strengthen our Council and community.”
