From the Mayor's Desk - November Council News
Christmas spirit is now spreading across Warren Shire with the Community Christmas Tree now shining brightly in front of the Community Room. The countdown is on to the Warren Street Christmas Party to be held on the evening of Friday 8 December 2023. Both the Santa Street and the Business House Front Window Christmas Display Competitions are now underway.
I’m pleased to report that November saw the completion of the long awaited CBD and Lions Park amenities buildings collages. These mural designs were a community driven project and as such, I’d like to invite the community to the official opening ceremony taking place on Thursday 7 December 2023 at Lions Park.
A number of projects across our Shire have progressed in recent weeks, including the impressive reconstruction of the Dragon Cowal Causeway after significant flood damage, completion of the Five Mile Cowal Bridge Rehab Project, and improved drainage works at the intersection of the Old Warren Road and the Industrial Access Road.
Additionally, new amenities were constructed at Monkeygar Creek, with a bird viewing platform soon to follow.
And finally, I’d like to again remind residents that nominations for the Warren Shire Australia Day Awards are open. If you know someone you’d like to see recognised, then I highly recommend you submit a nomination. It is important for us to recognise those who contribute to our community.
Clr Milton Quigley
MAYOR
