Council Comment - 13 December 2021 - Post Image

Time of writing is Monday, 13th December 2021 with the Macquarie River slowly going down with 8.54 metres at the Warren Town Gauge.  Reddenville Break on the Wambianna Road is still closed with 1.55 metres of water over the causeway.  Council staff are starting to inspect the current closed roads with a view to opening however, as those roads are opened members of the public need to be extremely careful due to the amount of flood damage that has been sustained to the road network.

Downstream of Warren is still in flood and roads are still a major concern.

The Macquarie River is still being monitored and the tractors and flood pumps will not be removed in Warren until the river has dropped below 8.3 metres and there are no further known peaks from tributaries and the Burrendong Dam spill.  The Warren floodgates will then be opened at this level.

This week will be a busy week for all of us, with plenty of Christmas Parties programmed together with the Warren Youth Foundation Community Christmas Party on Friday, 17th December 2021 at the Warren Youth Centre and Community Hub in Burton Street, Warren commencing at 5.00pm.  All members of the community are invited to enjoy the festivities.  Santa is expected to visit.

This will then be followed by the 2021 Carols by Candlelight which will take place in Macquarie Park on Saturday, 18th December 2021 from 6.30 pm with carol singing commencing at 7.30 pm.  Time to come and have a relaxing and enjoyable night.

It is now the final chance to prepare your street for judging of Santa Street, which will be undertaken anytime from Friday, 17th December 2021 to Sunday, 19th December 2021.
