Dogs

All dogs must be microchipped and registered under the NSW Companion Animals Act 1998.

From the age of six (6) months dogs must be microchipped and registered (it is important to note that microchipping and registration are two different processes).

Microchipping involves the injection of a tiny rice grain sized pellet under the skin of the animal.  The 'chip' contains an encoded ID number that can be read using a scanner by any vet or pound.

If you are the owner of a dog that you have bought or that has been given to you, you must ensure that the animal is microchipped and registered.

For details on Registration please use the registration links.

All dogs that are impounded (working dogs included) must be microchipped and registered for life prior to release from the pound.
